Compact Protective Fender for Docks, Pontoons and Berths
The seaEQ Dock Fender DF 40/10 is a compact, permanently mounted protective fender for docks, pontoons and berths. With a fender length of approximately 400 mm, it is particularly suitable for short dock sections, specific contact areas or as an addition to longer dock fenders.
Unlike a conventional boat fender suspended from the vessel, the DF 40/10 is mounted directly to the dock and remains in position. This means that the protective, cushioning contact surface is already in place whenever a boat approaches the berth.
The DF 40/10 is suitable for private berths as well as marinas and harbour facilities. Its compact design allows targeted positioning along the dock edge.
Targeted Protection During Docking and While Moored
The seaEQ DF 40/10 is suitable for wooden and concrete docks, as well as pontoons.
With its length of approximately 400 mm, the fender can be positioned precisely where contact between the boat hull and the dock edge may occur during docking or while the boat is moored.
Several DF 40/10 fenders can be installed next to each other or at different locations around the berth. They can also be combined with the longer DF 80/10 and DF 110/10 models.
This allows the protective arrangement to be adapted to the geometry and individual requirements of the berth.
The seaEQ Sliding Contact Principle
A key functional feature of the seaEQ Dock Fender DF 40/10 is its smooth contact surface.
During sideways contact, the boat hull can slide along the fender surface instead of being stopped immediately by a concentrated point of contact.
This sliding contact principle is particularly beneficial during sideways docking manoeuvres and when the boat moves along the dock edge.
Even in the compact DF 40/10 version, seaEQ combines a smooth sliding contact surface with a cushioning construction.
Robust Multi-Layer Construction with Closed-Cell PE Foam
The DF 40/10 features a multi-layer cushioning construction incorporating closed-cell polyethylene (PE) foam. The overall thickness of the cushioning element is approximately 40 mm.
Its robust textile outer construction is designed for use at permanent berths.
The backing is made from heavy-duty, fabric-reinforced PVC and provides a stable mounting base for installation on the dock.
Webbing straps running around the fender reinforce the construction and cover the mounting points after installation.
The outer material has been tested for colour fastness to light in accordance with DIN EN ISO 105-B02, achieving a rating of Grade ≥ 5. This rating describes the material's resistance to colour changes caused by light exposure under defined test conditions.
Permanent Installation by Screwing
The seaEQ DF 40/10 is securely mounted directly to the dock using screws.
After installation, the mounting points are concealed by the surrounding webbing straps.
Two optional seaEQ mounting sets are available as accessories for different installation requirements. These mounting sets are not included with the dock fender.
Dimensions and Weight of the DF 40/10
- Cushioning element: approx. 400 × 100 × 40 mm (length × height × thickness)
- Mounting plate: approx. 465 × 165 mm (length × height)
- Cushioning material: closed-cell PE foam
- Weight: approx. 0.5 kg
For the straight standard models DF 40/10, DF 80/10 and DF 110/10, the mounting plate is 65 mm larger than the cushioning element in both length and height.
The seaEQ DF Series – Different Sizes for Different Berths
The seaEQ DF dock fender series includes several models designed for different installation areas and protection requirements:
- DF 40/10: short version for targeted protection areas and flexible combinations.
- DF 80/10: compact, medium-length version with a continuous protective surface.
- DF 110/10: long standard version for larger protection areas.
- DF A 20/10: 90° corner fender for dock corners.
- DF B 110/20: pressure-resistant version with an additional XPS foam core.
- DF M 110/50: large-area mat-style protective fender.
The different models can be selected and combined according to the geometry and protection requirements of the berth.
Colours and Maintenance
The seaEQ Dock Fender DF 40/10 is available in three colours:
- Black
- Blue
- Grey
The dock fender can be easily washed with water. If necessary, it can also be cleaned using a pressure washer, maintaining an appropriate distance from the surface.
After many years of exposure to weather and sunlight, the colour intensity of the outer material may decrease. This does not affect the function of the dock fender.

Frequently Asked Questions About the seaEQ Dock Fender DF 40/10
Which areas are suitable for the DF 40/10?
With its length of approximately 400 mm, the DF 40/10 is particularly suitable for short dock sections and specific contact areas.
It can be installed individually or combined with other models from the seaEQ DF series.
Is the DF 40/10 a dock fender or a boat fender?
The DF 40/10 is a dock fender that is permanently mounted to a dock or pontoon.
Unlike a conventional boat fender, it is not suspended from the boat. Instead, it provides a protective and cushioning contact surface between the boat hull and the edge of the berth.
What is the seaEQ sliding contact principle?
During sideways contact, the boat hull can slide along the smooth fender surface instead of being stopped immediately by a concentrated point of contact.
This is particularly beneficial during docking manoeuvres and when the boat moves along the dock edge.
How is the DF 40/10 installed?
The dock fender is securely screwed directly to the dock.
After installation, the surrounding webbing straps conceal the mounting points.
Are mounting sets included?
No. Two suitable seaEQ mounting sets are available separately as optional accessories for different installation requirements.
Can I combine several DF 40/10 fenders?
Yes. Several DF 40/10 fenders can be positioned according to the geometry and protection requirements of the berth.
They can also be combined with the DF 80/10, DF 110/10 and other models from the seaEQ DF series.
When should I choose the DF 40/10 instead of the DF 80/10 or DF 110/10?
With a fender length of approximately 400 mm, the DF 40/10 is the shortest straight standard model in the DF series.
It is particularly suitable for short dock sections, specific contact areas and berths where several individual protective surfaces are useful.
The DF 80/10 provides a medium-length continuous protective surface, while the DF 110/10 offers a longer one.
What are the dimensions and weight of the DF 40/10?
The cushioning element measures approximately 400 × 100 × 40 mm (length × height × thickness).
The mounting plate measures approximately 465 × 165 mm (length × height).
The weight is approximately 0.5 kg.
How resistant is the outer material to sunlight?
The outer material has been tested for colour fastness to light according to DIN EN ISO 105-B02, achieving Grade ≥ 5.
After many years of intensive sunlight exposure, the colour intensity may still decrease. This does not affect the function or protective performance of the dock fender.
How can I clean the DF 40/10?
The seaEQ DF 40/10 can be washed with water and, if necessary, cleaned using a pressure washer while maintaining an appropriate distance from the surface.
Which colours are available?
The seaEQ DF 40/10 is available in Black, Blue and Grey.
