Pressure-Resistant Bow and Dock Fender for Demanding Berths

The seaEQ Dock Fender DF B 110/20 is the particularly pressure-resistant model within the DF series. Originally developed as a bow fender for bow-first docking, it is equally suitable for side-contact areas on docks and pontoons where greater overall thickness and higher pressure resistance are required.

With a protective surface measuring approximately 1100 × 200 mm and an overall thickness of approximately 90 mm, the DF B 110/20 differs significantly from the thinner standard models in the seaEQ DF series.

Its multi-layer construction combines a cushioning layer of closed-cell polyethylene (PE) foam with an additional pressure-resistant extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam core.

Originally Developed as a Bow Fender for Bow-First Docking

Installed at the end of a berth, the seaEQ DF B 110/20 provides a large, cushioned contact area for the bow of the boat.

Its multi-layer construction combines cushioning with high pressure resistance. The smooth fender surface allows the boat hull to move along the protective surface during suitable contact, rather than coming directly into contact with the hard dock structure.

This makes the DF B particularly suitable for berths where the bow may come into contact with a permanently installed protective surface during docking.

High Pressure Resistance Thanks to an Additional 50 mm XPS Core

The DF B 110/20 differs structurally from the thinner models in the seaEQ DF series.

In addition to its cushioning construction with 30 mm of closed-cell PE foam, it features a 50 mm core made from extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam.

The XPS core significantly increases the fender's pressure resistance and load-bearing capacity. At the same time, the PE foam layer above it continues to provide cushioning in the immediate contact area.

The overall thickness of the fender is approximately 90 mm.

This combination of materials is particularly suitable for contact areas where higher compressive loads may occur.

Also Suitable for Side Installation on Docks and Pontoons

The DF B 110/20 is not intended exclusively for use as a bow fender. It can also be installed along the sides of docks and pontoons.

Its greater overall thickness provides increased separation between the boat hull and the dock structure. At the same time, the additional XPS core offers higher pressure resistance than the thinner standard DF models.

The DF B can be used individually or combined with the DF 40/10, DF 80/10, DF 110/10 and other models from the seaEQ DF series.

The seaEQ Sliding Contact Principle – Smooth Contact Along the Fender Surface

The seaEQ sliding contact principle remains a key functional feature of the DF B 110/20.

During contact, the boat hull can move along the smooth fender surface instead of coming directly into contact with a hard dock edge or a concentrated contact point.

The DF B therefore combines its high pressure resistance with the characteristic sliding contact surface of the seaEQ DF series.

Multi-Layer Construction with PE Foam and XPS Core

The seaEQ DF B 110/20 combines a cushioning construction with 30 mm of closed-cell PE foam and an additional 50 mm XPS core.

The backing is made from heavy-duty, fabric-reinforced PVC and provides a stable base for installation on the dock.

Surrounding webbing straps reinforce the construction and conceal the mounting points after installation.

The outer material has been tested for colour fastness to light in accordance with DIN EN ISO 105-B02, achieving Grade ≥ 5. This rating describes the resistance of the colour to light exposure under defined test conditions.

Permanent Installation on Docks and Pontoons

The seaEQ DF B 110/20 is securely mounted directly to a dock or pontoon using screws and remains permanently in the intended position.

After installation, the mounting points are concealed by the designated webbing covers.

Optional seaEQ mounting sets are available as accessories for different installation requirements. These mounting sets are not included with the dock fender.

Combining the DF B with Other seaEQ Dock Fenders

The DF B 110/20 can be combined with other models from the seaEQ DF series.

For example, it can be installed as a pressure-resistant bow fender at the end of a berth, while the DF 40/10, DF 80/10 or DF 110/10 protect the adjoining dock edges.

Alternatively, the DF B can be positioned in a heavily used side-contact area and complemented by thinner dock fenders in other sections of the berth.

The seaEQ DF Series – Different Designs for Different Requirements

  • DF 40/10: short version for targeted protection areas.
  • DF 80/10: compact, medium-length version.
  • DF 110/10: long standard version for larger protection areas.
  • DF A 20/10: 90° corner fender for projecting dock corners.
  • DF B 110/20: pressure-resistant bow and dock fender with an additional XPS core.
  • DF M 110/50: large-area mat-style protective fender.

The different models can be selected and combined according to the geometry and protection requirements of the berth.

Colours and Maintenance

The seaEQ Dock Fender DF B 110/20 is available in three colours:

  • Black
  • Blue
  • Grey

The dock fender can be easily washed with water. If necessary, it can also be cleaned using a pressure washer while maintaining an appropriate distance from the surface.

After many years of intensive sunlight exposure, the colour intensity of the outer material may decrease. This does not affect the function of the dock fender.
