The seaEQ Fender Protection Mat FPM is a functional protective mat designed to be positioned between a boat fender and the hull. It prevents direct contact between the fender and the hull surface, helping to reduce chafing, friction and typical wear marks in the contact area.

Hanging boat fenders move continuously in relation to the hull due to wind, waves and boat movements. Over longer periods alongside, this relative movement can lead to chafe marks, dull patches on the hull surface or unwanted rubbing noises.

The FPM creates a separate protective surface between the fender and the boat.

The fender provides the cushioning. The FPM protects the hull from the fender.

Protection against friction and chafing

The FPM is positioned between an existing boat fender and the hull, preventing the fender from resting directly against the boat's side.

The smooth polyester outer surface allows the fender to move along the FPM. The hull-facing surface features a PU coating and forms the protective layer against the boat's side.

As a result, relative movement caused by wind, waves and boat movements takes place predominantly between the fender and the FPM rather than directly between the fender and the hull.

This makes the FPM particularly useful during extended periods alongside a pontoon, quay or another boat.

Functional multi-layer construction

The FPM features a multi-layer construction in which the fender-facing and hull-facing surfaces perform different functions.

Fender-facing side: Smooth polyester fabric providing a low-friction contact surface for the boat fender.

Hull-facing side: PU-coated surface forming the protective layer against the hull.

Core: Approximately 4 mm cellular rubber.

The thin, flexible construction provides extensive coverage of the fender contact area while allowing the mat to be rolled up and stored compactly when not in use.

The FPM contains no metal components. Its attachment tabs are permanently sewn into the construction.

Flexible attachment to the boat

The FPM is positioned on the boat using its permanently sewn attachment tabs.

seaEQ FR fender lines can be used for attachment. Alternatively, the seaEQ FRC-FR fender line with metal-free railing clip provides an attachment option for suitable railing systems.

FR fender lines and FRC-FR railing clips with fender lines are available separately as optional accessories and are not included with the FPM.

Easy cleaning and maintenance

Salt, dirt and typical harbour contamination can be rinsed off with water. For more stubborn dirt, the surface can be cleaned using a soft brush.

Not a standalone boat fender

The seaEQ Fender Protection Mat FPM is not a standalone boat fender and does not replace the cushioning function of an existing fender.

It is designed to be used together with cylindrical, spherical or other suitable boat fenders.

The existing fender continues to absorb contact forces between the boat and a pontoon, quay or another vessel. The FPM provides an additional protective layer between the fender and the hull.
