1.40 metres of continuous hull protection in a compact format
The seaEQ LF 1400 flat boat fender provides a continuous protective area along the side of the boat hull. With a length of 1.40 metres, it protects an extended section of the hull while combining a generous protective surface with relatively compact dimensions.
The LF 1400 is particularly suitable for boats requiring protection over a longer section of the hull, while offering a more compact alternative to the LF 2100.
Wide-area load distribution instead of isolated fender contact points
Conventional cylindrical or spherical boat fenders each protect a relatively limited area of the hull. The LF 1400, by contrast, creates a long, continuous protective zone.
This allows contact forces to be distributed over a larger area, helping to reduce concentrated loads on the boat hull. As the boat moves, changing contact points along the hull can remain within the extended protective surface.
Versatile protection for berthing, locks and rafting alongside
The LF 1400 is positioned on the outside of the boat hull and is suitable for a variety of berthing situations.
Its 1.40-metre-long protective surface is particularly useful when berthing alongside, passing through locks, manoeuvring in narrow marina berths or rafting alongside another boat.
Thanks to its flat design, the fender has a relatively low profile, making it particularly useful where space between the boat and its surroundings is limited.
Two functions: flat boat fender and compact cushion fender
The LF 1400 can be used along its full length of 1.40 metres. It can also be folded into a compact cushion fender measuring approximately 700 × 400 × 60 mm.
One fender therefore offers two different applications: a long, continuous protective zone along the hull or a folded cushion fender for a more concentrated contact area.
Its flexible construction also makes it easy to store compactly on board.
No inflation required
The LF 1400 is not an inflatable fender. Its cushioning core is made of foam and is ready for immediate use.
There is no need for inflation or air-pressure checks. The fender cannot lose air and can be folded for compact storage when not in use.
Flexible attachment to the boat
The LF 1400 can be attached according to the boat, its railings and the intended application. Depending on the situation, textile ties, straps, ropes or hook-and-loop straps can be used.
seaEQ also offers suitable fender lines and fender lines with metal-free railing clips. These attachment options allow the flat boat fender to be positioned according to the particular berthing situation.
Robust, hull-friendly construction without metal components
No metal components are used in the seaEQ LF 1400. This means there are no hard metal parts on the fender that could damage the boat hull through movement or contact.
The outer surface is made from high-strength PVC-coated polyester fabric. The material has been tested for colour fastness to light according to DIN EN ISO 105-B02, achieving a rating of ≥ 5.
The construction is designed for regular use in marine environments.
Integrated Protector Mats
The LF 1400 features integrated Protector Mats. They form part of the fender's construction and support its protective function in the contact area against the boat hull.
LF 1400 or FPM – What is the difference?
The LF 1400 is a complete, padded flat boat fender with a foam cushioning core. It provides the fender protection itself.
The seaEQ Fender Protection Mat (FPM), on the other hand, is a thin protective mat placed between an existing boat fender and the hull.
These products serve different purposes: the LF 1400 acts as a standalone fender, while the FPM complements an existing fender and protects the hull in the contact area.

Frequently Asked Questions about the seaEQ LF 1400 Flat Boat Fender
What is the advantage of the LF 1400 compared with a conventional cylindrical fender?
The LF 1400 protects a continuous 1.40-metre-long section of the boat hull. This allows changing contact points to remain within a larger protective area and helps distribute contact forces over an extended section.
At the same time, its flat construction offers a relatively compact format and requires little storage space when not in use.
Which situations is the LF 1400 suitable for?
The LF 1400 is particularly suitable for berthing alongside, passing through locks, manoeuvring in narrow marina berths, protecting the boat at its mooring and rafting alongside other boats.
Its combination of an extended protective surface and a low-profile design is especially useful where a larger section of the hull needs protection but available space is limited.
Can the LF 1400 also be used as a cushion fender?
Yes. The LF 1400 can be folded into a compact cushion fender measuring approximately 700 × 400 × 60 mm.
Depending on the berthing situation, it can therefore be used either as a 1.40-metre-long flat boat fender or as a folded cushion fender for a smaller contact area.
Does the LF 1400 need to be inflated?
No. The LF 1400 has a foam cushioning core and contains no air chamber. It is ready for immediate use and requires neither inflation nor air-pressure checks.
Can the LF 1400 be stored compactly?
Yes. Its flexible, flat construction allows compact storage on board. As the LF 1400 is not air-filled, it can be folded when not in use.
How is the LF 1400 attached to the boat?
The attachment method can be selected to suit the boat. Options include textile ties, straps, ropes and hook-and-loop straps.
seaEQ also offers suitable fender lines and fender lines with metal-free railing clips.
Is the LF 1400 suitable for use in locks?
Yes. Its continuous 1.40-metre-long protective surface can be particularly useful during lock manoeuvres, as the contact point between the boat and the lock wall may change.
Can the LF 1400 be used when rafting alongside another boat?
Yes. When boats are moored alongside each other, the LF 1400 provides a long, continuous protective area.
This is especially helpful when the relative positions of the boats change due to wind, waves or wash.
Does the LF 1400 contain any metal parts?
No. No metal components are used in the seaEQ LF 1400, so there are no hard metal parts on the fender that could come into contact with the boat hull.
How resistant is the outer material to sunlight?
The outer surface is made from high-strength PVC-coated polyester fabric. The material has been tested for colour fastness to light according to DIN EN ISO 105-B02, achieving a rating of ≥ 5.
As with other textile materials, prolonged and intensive exposure to sunlight may gradually affect colour intensity.
What is the difference between the LF 1400 and LF 2100?
The LF 1400 provides a continuous protective zone of 1.40 metres and is more compact than the LF 2100.
The LF 2100 offers a considerably longer protective zone of 2.10 metres. Both models can also be folded and used as cushion fenders.
The most suitable model depends on the boat, available storage space and the particular berthing situation.
