Large-Area Protection for Docks, Pontoons and Sheet Pile Walls

The seaEQ Dock Fender Mat DF M 110/50 is the large-area mat version of the seaEQ DF series. With a protective surface measuring approximately 1100 × 500 mm and an overall thickness of approximately 40 mm, it provides an extensive cushioned contact area for boats alongside docks, pontoons and sheet pile walls.

Its main advantage is the large vertical area it covers. The DF M 110/50 has been developed for berths where the contact point between the boat hull and the dock structure does not always remain at the same height.

This may occur due to tidal changes, fluctuating water levels, wave action or the use of the same berth by boats of different sizes.

Extensive Protection Where Water Levels Change

At many berths, the position of the boat hull changes relative to the fixed dock structure. This may be caused by tides, fluctuating water levels, wave action or different loading conditions.

Narrow dock fenders cover only a limited vertical area. With its height of 500 mm, the seaEQ DF M 110/50 provides a considerably larger vertical contact surface.

This makes it particularly suitable for berths affected by changing water levels and for visitor berths accommodating different types of boats.

More Than 0.5 m² of Continuous Fender Surface

With a length of approximately 1100 mm and a height of approximately 500 mm, the DF M 110/50 provides a continuous protective surface of around 0.55 m².

Its large-area construction allows a substantial section of a dock or sheet pile wall to be protected using a single fender.

Several DF M 110/50 fenders can be installed side by side to create an extensive protective arrangement along longer sections of a dock.

The seaEQ Sliding Contact Principle – Movement Along the Fender Surface

Like the other models in the DF series, the DF M 110/50 incorporates the seaEQ sliding contact principle.

During lateral contact, the boat hull can move along the smooth fender surface instead of coming into direct contact with a hard dock edge or sheet pile wall.

The combination of large-area cushioning and a sliding contact surface is particularly useful at berths where boats move relative to the fixed dock structure due to wind, waves or changing water levels.

Multi-Layer Construction with Closed-Cell Foam

The seaEQ DF M 110/50 features a multi-layer cushioning construction with closed-cell foam.

Due to its cellular structure, closed-cell foam absorbs very little water and is suitable for use in marine environments.

The large-area construction provides a cushioned contact zone of approximately 0.55 m² and allows contact forces to be distributed over a larger surface.

With an overall thickness of approximately 40 mm, the DF M combines an extensive protective surface with a comparatively slim profile.

Permanent Installation on Docks, Pontoons and Sheet Pile Walls

The seaEQ DF M 110/50 is permanently secured by screws to a suitable dock, pontoon or sheet pile wall structure.

The mounting plate extends beyond the cushioning element on all sides, providing the designated fixing areas.

After installation, the screw heads are concealed by the integrated covering flaps.

Optional seaEQ mounting kits are available as accessories for different installation requirements. These kits are sold separately and are not included with the dock fender.

Dimensions and Weight of the DF M 110/50

  • Cushioning element: approx. 1100 × 500 × 40 mm (length × height × thickness)
  • Mounting plate: approx. 1165 × 565 mm (length × height)
  • Protective surface: approx. 0.55 m²
  • Weight: approx. 4.2 kg
  • Design: large-area dock fender mat
  • Construction: multi-layer structure with closed-cell foam

Combining Multiple Fender Mats Along Longer Dock Sections

The DF M 110/50 can be used individually or combined with additional fender mats.

Installing several units side by side allows longer dock sections or sheet pile wall areas to be protected over a large surface.

Depending on the geometry of the berth, the DF M can also be combined with other models from the seaEQ DF series.

The seaEQ DF Series – Different Designs for Different Berths

  • DF 40/10: short version for targeted protection areas.
  • DF 80/10: compact medium-length version.
  • DF 110/10: long standard version for larger protection areas.
  • DF A 20/10: 90° corner fender for projecting dock corners.
  • DF B 110/20: pressure-resistant bow and dock fender with an additional XPS core.
  • DF M 110/50: large-area fender mat with a protective height of 500 mm.

The different models allow a fender arrangement tailored to the geometry and protection requirements of each berth.

Colours and Maintenance

The seaEQ Dock Fender Mat DF M 110/50 is available in three colours:

  • Black
  • Blue
  • Grey

The dock fender can easily be washed with water. If necessary, it can also be cleaned using a pressure washer, provided an appropriate distance from the surface is maintained.

The outer material has a tested colour fastness to light according to DIN EN ISO 105-B02, grade ≥ 5.

After many years of intensive sunlight exposure, the colour intensity may decrease. This does not affect the function of the dock fender.

Frequently Asked Questions About the seaEQ Dock Fender Mat DF M 110/50

Which berths is the DF M 110/50 particularly suitable for?

The DF M 110/50 is particularly suitable for berths with fluctuating water levels, wave action or different types of boats.

With its height of 500 mm, it provides a large vertical protective surface and covers a wider range of possible contact points than narrower dock fenders.

Is the DF M 110/50 suitable for sheet pile walls?

Yes. The DF M was developed for use on various dock structures, including sheet pile walls.

A suitable mounting arrangement must be available on the respective structure.

How large is the protective surface of the DF M 110/50?

The cushioning surface measures approximately 1100 × 500 mm, providing a continuous protective area of around 0.55 m².

Why is the large height of 500 mm beneficial?

Tides, fluctuating water levels, wave action or different loading conditions can change the height of the boat hull relative to the dock structure.

With its height of 500 mm, the DF M covers a larger vertical contact area.

What does the seaEQ sliding contact principle mean for the DF M 110/50?

During lateral contact, the boat hull can move along the smooth fender surface instead of coming into direct contact with a hard dock edge or sheet pile wall.

The DF M therefore combines large-area cushioning with a contact surface designed to support sliding movement along the fender.

How is the DF M 110/50 constructed?

The DF M 110/50 features a multi-layer cushioning construction with closed-cell foam.

Due to its cellular structure, the foam absorbs very little water and is suitable for long-term use in marine environments.

The overall thickness of the fender is approximately 40 mm.

How is the DF M 110/50 installed?

The dock fender is secured by screws through the mounting plate, which extends beyond the cushioning element on all sides, to a suitable dock, pontoon or sheet pile wall structure.

After installation, the screw heads are concealed by the designated covering flaps.

Are mounting kits included?

No. Suitable seaEQ mounting kits are available separately as optional accessories and are not included with the dock fender.

Can several DF M 110/50 fender mats be installed side by side?

Yes. Several fender mats can be installed next to each other to protect longer dock sections or sheet pile wall areas over a large surface.

Can the DF M be combined with other models from the DF series?

Yes. The DF M 110/50 can be combined with other models from the seaEQ DF series according to the geometry and protection requirements of the berth.

What are the dimensions of the DF M 110/50?
