seaEQ SR 1600 – Sail Ties with Twisted Sewn Loop
The seaEQ SR 1600 Sail Tie is a 160 cm long and approximately 25 mm wide sail tie made from flexible polypropylene webbing. It has been developed primarily for securing mainsails and is also suitable for bundling ropes, lines and appropriate equipment on board.
Its distinctive design feature is the large, twisted sewn loop. The special construction helps keep the loop more open, making it easier to pass the free end of the webbing through.
The flexible, 25 mm wide webbing provides a broad contact surface against the sailcloth. The orange colour identifies the SR 1600 within the colour-coded seaEQ SR range.
Pack contents: 4 seaEQ SR 1600 sail ties in orange.
Webbing Sail Ties for Mainsails
After lowering the mainsail, the sailcloth needs to be gathered and secured, for example along the boom. The seaEQ SR Sail Tie has been developed for this purpose.
The flexible webbing can be wrapped around the lowered sail. Its approximately 25 mm width distributes contact over a larger area than a thin rope, helping to secure the sailcloth with less concentrated pressure.
The SR 1600 can also be used to bundle or hold together ropes, lines, sail bags and other suitable equipment on board.
Large, Twisted Sewn Loop – A Distinctive Design Feature
The large loop of the seaEQ SR 1600 is deliberately twisted before being sewn during manufacture.
Because of this twist, the two layers of webbing within the loop cannot lie completely flat against each other. This helps the loop remain more open and makes its opening easier to locate and handle.
The free end of the sail tie can then be passed through the loop more easily. This design is particularly useful when securing or releasing the mainsail on board.
The loop is secured with heavy-duty polyester thread using a box-and-cross stitch pattern.
Flexible Polypropylene Webbing
The seaEQ SR 1600 is made from lightweight, flexible polypropylene (PP) webbing with a width of approximately 25 mm.
Polypropylene absorbs very little water, making it well suited to marine applications.
The flexible textile construction provides a broad contact surface against the sailcloth and can also be used for securing modern sail materials. Suitability always depends on the particular sail construction and correct method of use.
Colour Coding of the seaEQ SR Range
Each length in the seaEQ SR range has its own colour. This makes it easy to distinguish between the different sizes on board.
The SR range includes four individual lengths and the SR MULTI assortment:
- SR 1200: 120 cm – Black
- SR 1600: 160 cm – Orange
- SR 2000: 200 cm – White
- SR 2400: 240 cm – Blue
- SR MULTI: Pack of 4 containing one sail tie of each length and colour
The SR 1600 in orange is the 160 cm version of the range.
