seaEQ HLT 500 – Flexible Hook-and-Loop Straps for Sails, Ropes and Equipment
The seaEQ HLT 500 hook-and-loop strap is a reusable sail tie designed for quickly bundling, securing and holding together sails, ropes and equipment on board.
Measuring approximately 500 mm in length and 40 mm in width, the HLT 500 is the shortest version in the seaEQ HLT range. It is particularly suitable for smaller bundles of sailcloth, lines and other suitable items.
The combination of hook-and-loop fastening surfaces allows the strap to be closed quickly, opened again and reused. No additional knots are required.
The HLT 500 is manufactured in highly visible fluorescent orange and supplied in a pack of four straps.
Sail Ties for Mainsails and Headsails
The seaEQ HLT hook-and-loop straps are particularly suitable for use as sail ties for mainsails and headsails.
After lowering the sail, the sailcloth can be gathered into a compact bundle and secured, for example along the boom.
With a length of 50 cm, the HLT 500 is particularly suitable for smaller bundles of gathered sailcloth. The flexible, approximately 40 mm wide hook-and-loop strap can be wrapped easily around the sail.
The HLT also provides a practical solution for bundling and securing headsails and other suitable textile equipment.
Versatile Applications on Board
In addition to its use as a sail tie, the seaEQ HLT 500 can be used wherever suitable items need to be temporarily bundled or held together.
Typical applications include:
- Mainsails and headsails
- Sailcloth and sail bags
- Ropes, lines and sheets
- Equipment on deck and below deck
- Luggage and bags
- Other suitable loose items on board
The hook-and-loop fastening can be opened and closed repeatedly. This makes the HLT particularly useful for applications where items need to be secured, released and secured again on a regular basis.
Hook-and-Loop Fastening – Quick to Close and Easy to Release
The seaEQ HLT 500 combines hook-and-loop fastening surfaces to hold sails and other suitable items together.
To secure an item, the strap is wrapped around the material and fastened by pressing the hook and loop surfaces together.
To release it, the connected surfaces are simply pulled apart. The strap can then be used again.
This straightforward fastening method is particularly practical for frequently repeated tasks on board.
Robust Stitched Construction
The hook-and-loop material is stitched along its edges using heavy-duty polyester thread.
The ends are additionally secured with three rows of stitching, creating a robust, reusable fastening strap designed for regular use on board.
The seaEQ HLT straps are assembled and stitched at the seaEQ workshop in Germany.
Fluorescent Orange – Highly Visible and Easy to Find
The seaEQ HLT 500 is manufactured in fluorescent orange. Its distinctive colour makes the strap easier to spot and find on board.
This is particularly useful when straps are temporarily put aside after opening or placed among other equipment.
Colour information: Fluorescent pigments generally have lower lightfastness than conventional colours. Prolonged and intensive exposure to UV radiation may cause the colour intensity or fluorescent effect to fade over time.
Such colour changes do not affect the function of the HLT strap.
Four Lengths and a MULTI Set
The seaEQ HLT hook-and-loop straps are available in four different lengths. All versions are approximately 40 mm wide and manufactured in fluorescent orange.
- HLT 500: approx. 500 × 40 mm – Pack of 4
- HLT 850: approx. 850 × 40 mm – Pack of 4
- HLT 1200: approx. 1200 × 40 mm – Pack of 4
- HLT 1500: approx. 1500 × 40 mm – Pack of 4
- HLT MULTI: Four different lengths – one each of HLT 500, HLT 850, HLT 1200 and HLT 1500
The HLT 500 offers the shortest fastening length in the HLT range at 50 cm. It is a practical choice for smaller bundles and applications where a longer strap is not required.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About the seaEQ HLT 500
What is the seaEQ HLT 500 used for?
The seaEQ HLT 500 is a reusable hook-and-loop strap designed for bundling and securing sails, ropes and equipment on board. It is particularly suitable as a sail tie for smaller bundles of sailcloth, but can also be used to hold together lines, bags and other suitable items.
Which HLT length should I choose?
The appropriate length depends on the circumference of the item to be bundled and the intended application. The HLT range is available in lengths of 500, 850, 1200 and 1500 mm. All versions are approximately 40 mm wide.
What distinguishes the HLT 500?
The HLT 500 is the shortest version in the HLT range, measuring approximately 500 × 40 mm. It is particularly suitable for smaller bundles and applications where a fastening length of 50 cm is sufficient.
What is included in the HLT MULTI set?
The HLT MULTI set contains one hook-and-loop strap of each available length: 1 × HLT 500, 1 × HLT 850, 1 × HLT 1200 and 1 × HLT 1500. This provides four different lengths for a variety of applications on board.
How many straps are included?
The seaEQ HLT 500 is supplied in a pack of four straps. Each strap measures approximately 500 mm in length and 40 mm in width.
Can the HLT straps be reused?
Yes. The hook-and-loop fastening can be opened and closed repeatedly. This makes the HLT particularly suitable for applications on board where sails, ropes or equipment need to be bundled, released and secured again regularly.
Why is the HLT fluorescent orange?
Fluorescent orange provides a highly visible colour that makes the strap easier to identify and find on board. This is particularly practical when straps are temporarily put aside after opening.
Can fluorescent orange fade in sunlight?
Yes. Fluorescent pigments generally have lower lightfastness than conventional colours. Prolonged and intensive exposure to UV radiation may gradually reduce the colour intensity or fluorescent effect. This does not affect the function of the HLT strap.
How is the HLT strap constructed?
The hook-and-loop material is stitched along its edges using heavy-duty polyester thread. The ends are reinforced with three rows of stitching. The seaEQ HLT straps are assembled and stitched in Germany.
How wide is the seaEQ HLT 500?
The seaEQ HLT 500 is approximately 40 mm wide. The same width applies to the other HLT versions measuring 850, 1200 and 1500 mm in length.
