The seaEQ Piling Fender PF 40/60 was developed to protect the boat's hull when entering and leaving a marina berth. With a protective surface of approximately 400 × 600 mm, it is particularly suitable for wider mooring pilings and berths where a smaller vertical protective area is required.
Unlike a conventional boat fender, the PF 40/60 is attached directly to the piling and remains in position. This provides a defined protective surface at a typical contact point when manoeuvring into the berth.
The seaEQ Sliding Principle
The distinctive operating principle of the seaEQ piling fender allows the boat to slide along the fender during sideways contact, rather than being abruptly stopped by a concentrated point of contact.
This allows the boat's movement to continue in a more controlled manner when entering or leaving the berth. At the same time, the padded fender protects the hull in the contact area between the boat and the piling.
Compact Protective Surface for Smaller Water Level Changes
With a height of approximately 600 mm, the PF 40/60 is the more compact model among the 400 mm wide seaEQ piling fenders.
It is particularly suitable for berths where large vertical water level changes do not need to be accommodated.
For a larger vertical contact area, the PF 40/80 measuring 400 × 800 mm is available. Where installation width is limited, the PF 25/80 measuring 250 × 800 mm offers a narrower alternative.
Direct Installation on the Piling – No Drilling or Screws
The PF 40/60 is attached directly to the piling using a suitable seaEQ PFS tensioning strap system.
Installation requires no drilling, screws or permanent modifications to the piling. The fender can therefore be removed when necessary or installed on another suitable piling.
The different PFS tensioning strap systems allow installation on round and square pilings of various dimensions.
Important: When ordering, select the appropriate PFS tensioning strap system from the dropdown menu according to the dimensions of your piling. The selected PFS tensioning strap system is included in the delivery of your piling fender.
Which seaEQ PFS Tensioning Strap System Fits My Piling?
To select the correct tensioning strap system, measure the diameter of a round piling or the side length of a square piling.
The following table shows the appropriate PFS tensioning strap system for each piling size.
| Piling shape | Piling dimensions | Suitable tensioning strap system |
|---|---|---|
| Round | Diameter 170–210 mm | PFS 480 |
| Round | Diameter 210–270 mm | PFS 650 |
| Round | Diameter 260–320 mm | PFS 810 |
| Round | Diameter 290–390 mm | PFS 1020 |
| Square | Side length 145–165 mm | PFS 480 |
| Square | Side length 165–210 mm | PFS 650 |
| Square | Side length 200–255 mm | PFS 810 |
| Square | Side length 220–310 mm | PFS 1020 |
Selection guide: Measure your piling before ordering. Then select the PFS tensioning strap system that matches your piling dimensions from the dropdown menu. Your piling fender will be supplied together with the selected PFS tensioning strap system.
Durable and Shock-Absorbing Construction
The outer surface of the piling fender is made from high-strength polyester fabric with a PVC coating. An integrated PE foam core provides cushioning in the contact area between the boat and the piling.
The construction is reinforced with durable polypropylene (PP) webbing straps.
The outer material has a tested lightfastness rating of ≥ 5 according to DIN EN ISO 105-B02.
Metal-Free Construction
The seaEQ piling fender contains no metal components.
The matching PFS tensioning strap systems are also entirely metal-free. They are made from PP webbing and PET tensioning rods and are tightened around the piling using a hook-and-loop fastening system.
This means there are no metal fastening components in the immediate working and contact area of the fender.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the seaEQ Piling Fender PF 40/60
How does the seaEQ Sliding Principle work?
During sideways contact, the boat's hull can slide along the padded piling fender rather than being abruptly stopped by a concentrated point of contact. This allows the boat's movement to continue in a more controlled manner when entering or leaving the berth.
Which pilings are suitable for the PF 40/60?
The PF 40/60 is suitable for round and square pilings. The required PFS tensioning strap system depends on the diameter or side length of the piling. The appropriate size can be determined using the PFS sizing table.
Is the tensioning strap system included in the delivery?
Yes. The seaEQ PFS tensioning strap system selected from the dropdown menu is included with the PF 40/60. You receive the piling fender together with the correctly selected tensioning strap system.
How do I select the correct PFS tensioning strap system?
Measure the diameter of a round piling or the side length of a square piling. Compare the measurement with the PFS sizing table and select the appropriate tensioning strap system from the dropdown menu. The selected system will be supplied together with the piling fender.
Does installation require drilling or screws?
No. The piling fender is attached directly to the piling using the matching PFS tensioning strap system. No drilling, screws or permanent modifications to the piling are required.
When is the PF 40/60 the right size?
Measuring approximately 400 × 600 mm, the PF 40/60 is the wide, compact model in the PF range. It is particularly suitable for larger pilings and berths with smaller water level changes. The PF 40/80 provides a larger vertical protective area, while the PF 25/80 offers a narrower alternative where installation width is limited.
What is the difference between the PF 40/60 and PF 40/80?
Both models are approximately 400 mm wide. The PF 40/60 has a height of approximately 600 mm, while the PF 40/80 measures approximately 800 mm in height and therefore provides a larger vertical contact area.
Is the piling fender fastening system metal-free?
Yes. Both the piling fender and the matching PFS tensioning strap systems have a metal-free construction. The tensioning strap systems use PP webbing and PET tensioning rods.
How resistant is the outer material to sunlight?
The high-strength polyester fabric with PVC coating has a tested lightfastness rating of ≥ 5 according to DIN EN ISO 105-B02. After many years of intensive sunlight exposure, some fading may occur without necessarily affecting the protective function of the piling fender.
Can the piling fender be removed and reused?
Yes. As the PF 40/60 is installed using a PFS tensioning strap system without drilling or screws, it can be removed when necessary and reused on another suitable piling.
